December picnic trial

Sunday December 1st is when our next picnic trial will be held.  Please meet at the Vet field to register.  Registration starts at 9am, the stakes will start running at 9:30am.  Please keep an eye on your email and on this blog site in case of cancellation due to inclement weather.

Annual General Meeting and Picnic Trial

Once again, MVRTC will be hosting picnic trials out of Christie Conservation Area, located on hiway 5 in Dundas Ontario. These picnic trials are weather-dependent, so please check here regularly to see if there have been any changes. Registration at 9am, stakes to begin running at 9:30, $5 per dog. We'll be meeting at the Vet Field (the field before you drive all the way down to the Causeway).  

When the stakes are done running, MVRTC will be holding its AGM. This will be located at the open air pavilion, located beside the pavilion we normally host our hunt test out of. Chili and hot dogs will be served, and members are free for lunch. Dress for the weather, and we look forward to seeing everyone.

New Upland Hunter titles

On April 6th, a few Mountain Valley members were involved in the Hunting Retriever Club weekend hosted by Luther Marsh HRC.  Dave Hendry and Chris Plouffe became licensed Upland Hunt test judges at the event.  Randy LeClair was hunt test secretary and kept all the paperwork in order, and it's a good thing, because there are now two new Upland Hunter titles in our club!  Congrats to B-Line's Autumn Rush who achieved this milestone with her handler and MVRTC president Chris Bayles.  Congrats also to Tullamore's Gunsablazing who achieved this milestone with her handler and MVRTC VP Alana Cholewa.  A good time was had by all, and it was a great day to get the dogs out after a long winter.

The MVRTC picnic trial the following day was also a huge success. Great turn outs with the unexpected lovely weather.  Thanks to all who came out and helped make this day a good one.

With this, we are now officially looking at the beginning of testing season, as our first WC event is coming up at the end of May.  Anyone interested in lending a hand, please contact Susie Bell or Jill Chalmers.

January Picnic Trial

We had a great turn out today a lot more that we expected.  Normally we would have ran two stakes but it was slow first thing so was decided one should do it.  It was really nice to see everyone and I think the dogs had fun :0)  Thanks to everyone that helped out, especially Pete for judging.  Let's hope we have nice weather for the next one.
